Jared, Clinical Administrative Coordinator
Jared was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and raised in Decatur, Alabama. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 2024 and is currently a candidate for the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program at UAH, where he scored in the 98th percentile nationally on the ATI TEAS exam. His long-term goal is to become a Family Nurse Practitioner and later pursue certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, expanding access to both medical and mental health care for his future patients.
Since joining Whitfield Family Practice in 2023, Jared has become known as the office’s chief problem solver and “jack-of-all-trades.” In his role as Clinical Administrative Coordinator, he manages medical records, specialist referrals, and prior authorizations, with extensive experience in BCBS BEG/PGX plan and Tricare Prime referrals. He communicates daily with pharmacies, pharmacy benefit managers such as Express Scripts, Prime Therapeutics, Caremark, and OptumRx, as well as pharmaceutical representatives. Jared is particularly recognized for his expertise in navigating prior authorizations and writing strong appeals that frequently overturn insurance denials, ensuring patients receive the medications they need. Beyond administration, he also serves as the office’s in-house IT support, troubleshooting technical issues to keep operations running smoothly.
Outside of work, Jared enjoys reading and writing poetry, practicing mindfulness, and spending time with his partner, Oky—a practicing optometrist. Together for 11 years, they recently celebrated purchasing their first home. They are the proud parents of Renly, a black pug, and the doting grandparents of Jaime, Renly’s half-Dalmatian, half-pug son. Inspired by the words of William Ernest Henley, Jared strives to rise in the face of adversity and live each day with an “unconquerable soul.”
