Liz Berry, PA-C

Born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama, Liz Berry comes from a family deeply rooted in
science and exploration. Her grandfather, a former Army Air Corps member who worked
for NASA, set the tone for a family of engineers. As one of six children in a uniquely
blended family, Liz has developed a strong appreciation for patience, adaptability, and
the value of close relationships.

Liz’s passion for medicine began in high school, sparked by her mother's battle with
breast cancer. During this challenging time, she encountered several physician
assistants whose focused, compassionate care left a lasting impression on her and
inspired her to pursue a similar path. After graduating from Grissom High School, she
followed in her mother's footsteps by attending Auburn University, where she earned a
degree in Nutrition Science. This foundation in preventive healthcare helped her
understand the critical roles of diet, exercise, and lifestyle in long-term wellness.

Following her time at Auburn, Liz gained valuable experience as a medical assistant
before being accepted into the UAB Physician Assistant Program, which she completed
in December 2022. Her journey began as a server assistant at Cotton Row in Huntsville,
where she learned the importance of customer service and hard work. Transitioning into
healthcare, Liz excelled as a medical assistant before applying to PA school. One of her
most rewarding experiences was a clinical rotation at MD Anderson Cancer Center in
Houston, Texas, one of the top cancer institutes in the world. This, along with a family
medicine rotation in rural Montana, where she served an underserved area, solidified
her commitment to improving access to quality care.

Today, Liz is a certified Physician Associate at Whitfield Family Practice, where she
combines her medical knowledge with a strong focus on preventive health. She loves
building long-term relationships with patients, guiding them through every stage of
life—from infancy to adulthood. Although she is single, Liz is the proud “mom” of a
seven-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Eilish, named after a character from the novel
Brooklyn (no, not Billie Eilish!).

A passionate outdoors enthusiast, Liz enjoys hiking, kayaking, camping, and rock
climbing. Having spent summers at the lake, she has a bucket list of visiting every
national park in the U.S. In the fall, she can often be found tailgating at Auburn football
games, a cherished tradition. Liz also values quality time with friends and family and
dedicates her spare time to developing her stand-up comedy routine—if she weren’t a
PA, being a comedian would be her dream job.

Driven by the belief in the power of empathy and connection, Liz understands the
importance of slowing down to truly listen to others. This philosophy shapes her
approach to patient care and guides her in fostering genuine relationships with those
she serves. She is committed to the transformative potential of preventive health and
feels privileged to accompany patients through some of their most vulnerable moments.
As she believes, “Cure sometimes, treat often, comfort always.” – Hippocrates.
