Whitfield Family Practice

Jared, Administrative Assistant

Jared was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and grew up in Decatur, Alabama. He
graduated from Austin High School and is the youngest of eight siblings, proudly being
the first in his family to graduate high school and attend college. He earned a Bachelor
of Science in Health Care Management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham
(UAB) in 2024.

Jared has a lifelong passion for healthcare, having wanted to be a provider since
childhood. His genuine interest in science, particularly in neurobiology, biology, and
health science, including nutrition, has fueled his aspirations. His desire to pursue a
career as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) was influenced by
his personal experiences with ADHD, which he learned about through research and
college. His personal research into ADHD, coupled with insights gained from listening to
professional psychiatrists, has deepened his understanding of mental health and coping
strategies.

He joined Whitfield Family Practice in the winter of 2023 as an intern and officially
became an administrative assistant in the spring of 2024. In this role, he is responsible
for reviewing medical records, coordinating specialist referrals, managing prior
authorizations, and communicating with pharmaceutical representatives. His keen
organizational skills, dedication to patient care, and general knowledge of technology
have made him a valuable member of the team.

Jared also has a musical background, having played the saxophone throughout high
school and for three years in college. Outside of work, he enjoys creating unique
playlists, writing and reading poetry—his current favorite authors being Yung Pueblo
and Billy Chapata—and practicing mindfulness. He is also a proud dog owner to his
black pug, Renly. Driven by a desire to forge his own path and inspire others, Jared
embodies the belief that “I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.” –
William Ernest Henley.
